Artist's Description
This is my first venture into painting a large canvas paintings. It is on a 36" X 24" stretched canvas and I wrote the music, then white washed it, let it dry for two weeks and then painted the dancer. I am a musician as well as a visual artist and this painting expresses both talents that are a key part of my being. In my younger years I looked like this with lean legs and arms and was graceful as this young lady in my painting. My goal was to impart lightness, beauty, grace and happiness as segment of this painting. I hope you smile and feel good when you view the painting and agree it has aesthetic value. If you have a spot for her, take her and give her a good home.
About Margaret Harmon
As a painter, my goal is to inspire, not just reproduce a subject on a canvas. I like my colors bold with subjects drawn in large, generous forms. I want my work to touch the inner impulse and passion of my viewers. To me, producing art is liberating. Whether I work directly from a perceived subject, plain air, or abstractly, I am most concerned about the work's overall composition and formal aspects. My colors tend to be bright and bold. Bright colors make me happy, and I aspire to convey that feeling to my viewers and customers. I am a native of Sikeston, Missouri, and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with a BS in Historic Preservation. Mostly it is just triads counting 4 beats to the measure. I was tired by the time I finished the music. The canvas is 36" X 30"
