Sometimes we get into developing series by accident. I had several of this design painting as gifts to little ballerinas and an adult wanted one with a yellow rose. I am tiring of the same design so have broadened my "series" now to include Ballerinas as silhouettes on various backgrounds. As I've said before, I took ballet, my daughter took it and now our granddaughter is taking ballet so it seemed natural to do this series. I am enjoying the graceful feeling these ballerina bring while painting them.

As a painter, my goal is to inspire, not just reproduce a subject on a canvas. I like my colors bold with subjects drawn in large, generous forms. I want my work to touch the inner impulse and passion of my viewers. To me, producing art is liberating. Whether I work directly from a perceived subject, plain air, or abstractly, I am most concerned about the work's overall composition and formal aspects. My colors tend to be bright and bold. Bright colors make me happy, and I aspire to convey that feeling to my viewers and customers.
