This majestic lion lives at the Baton Rouge Zoo. I photographed him using a 135 mm lens, mounted on a 2X extender and a Pentax 1000 camera and mounted on a tripod. It is hard to beat the dependability and quality of the Pentax 1000 camera. This is an older lion and some of his battle scars can be seen on his nose.

As a painter, my goal is to inspire, not just reproduce a subject on a canvas. I like my colors bold with subjects drawn in large, generous forms. I want my work to touch the inner impulse and passion of my viewers. To me, producing art is liberating. Whether I work directly from a perceived subject, plain air, or abstractly, I am most concerned about the work's overall composition and formal aspects. My colors tend to be bright and bold. Bright colors make me happy, and I aspire to convey that feeling to my viewers and customers.
