The Common Pleas Court House in Cape Girardeau, Missouri is a pre Civil War Era Court House. It was used to house Confederate Soldiers in the basement and you can still see and walk in the cells. Cape Girardeau County was one of the original five counties of Missouri Territories west of the Mississippi River after the Louisiana Purchase.
