Oysters in the half-shell are popular in Louisiana. I was blessed to see one open and inside was a small pearl. I took a picture of the amazing sight and later painted it from the photograph. It has a high gloss varnish applied so it is aluminated.

As a painter, my goal is to inspire, not just reproduce a subject on a canvas. I like my colors bold with subjects drawn in large, generous forms. I want my work to touch the inner impulse and passion of my viewers. To me, producing art is liberating. Whether I work directly from a perceived subject, plain air, or abstractly, I am most concerned about the work's overall composition and formal aspects. My colors tend to be bright and bold. Bright colors make me happy, and I aspire to convey that feeling to my viewers and customers.
