Artist's Description

Pears on a Limb was my first painting. It was my vision of 3 pairs on a table. My painting was very different than anyone else in my class and that has been true of my paintings ever since. It is hard to believe I brought a 16" X 20" canvas for my first painting but - here it is!

As a painter, my goal is to inspire, not just reproduce a subject on a canvas. I like my colors bold with subjects drawn in large, generous forms. I want my work to touch the inner impulse and passion of my viewers. To me, producing art is liberating. Whether I work directly from a perceived subject, plain air, or abstractly, I am most concerned about the work's overall composition and formal aspects. My colors tend to be bright and bold. Bright colors make me happy, and I aspire to convey that feeling to my viewers and customers. I am a native of Sikeston, Missouri, and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with a BS in Historic Preservation.
