The Old Louisiana State Capital building is one of my favorite places to visit in downtown Baton Rouge. It is ablaze with colored and stained glass putting a special shimmer on the interior of the building. I tried to capture this image many times before but the light just was not right. This day I captured the beauty of the buildings crowning glory. The building is a Gothic architectural treasure and stands high on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River.

As a painter, my goal is to inspire, not just reproduce a subject on a canvas. I like my colors bold with subjects drawn in large, generous forms. I want my work to touch the inner impulse and passion of my viewers. To me, producing art is liberating. Whether I work directly from a perceived subject, plain air, or abstractly, I am most concerned about the work's overall composition and formal aspects. My colors tend to be bright and bold. Bright colors make me happy, and I aspire to convey that feeling to my viewers and customers. I am a native of Sikeston, Missouri, and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with a BS in Historic Preservation. I had an interesting career in travel and...
