About Margaret Harmon
As a painter, my goal is to inspire, not just reproduce a subject on a canvas. I like my colors bold with subjects drawn in large, generous forms. I want my work to touch the inner impulse and passion of my viewers. To me, producing art is liberating. Whether I work directly from a perceived subject, plain air, or abstractly, I am most concerned about the work's overall composition and formal aspects. My colors tend to be bright and bold. Bright colors make me happy, and I aspire to convey that feeling to my viewers and customers. I am a native of Sikeston, Missouri, and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with a BS in Historic Preservation. I had an interesting career in travel and relocation management in the corporate world before retirement. My husband Tom and I returned to Louisiana in 2008 and now live in Zachary, Louisiana. We live near our daughter and son-in-law, Robert and Tina Harmon Havard of Clinton, and our grandson Trey Havard and his family in Slaughter, Louisiana. I am a past president of the Zachary Artists Guild (ZAG), past president of the Regional Art Council of Zachary (RACZ), and I participate in regional art shows. Additionally, I am an active volunteer with Zachary United Methodist Church, a Genealogist, and writer of family and business histories. I have published three books and thirty-five articles on cemeteries and some of the people buried within the cemeteries.
