Artist's Description

I had this flower and budvase on my kitchen island for everyone to enjoy. It is from my own flower garden. I was looking for something to paint that day and when this lovely flower caught my eye. I have a drape the color of the tinted see through vase so set it under the vase. After I finished the first rose, I was pleased. I am now going to let the cat out of the bag on what happens to artists all the time. I could not capture the spirit of the second rose so I scraped the paint off and did it two more times. Finally I removed the second rose for the third time and painted a rose bud. Now I felt satisfied. The good news is that someone purchased this painting before I even had it in a frame. I am learning that when things don't go perfect, adjust, modify and muddle through until you get an aesthetically pleasing painting.

Bright colors make me happy, and I aspire to convey that feeling to my viewers and customers. I am a native of Sikeston, Missouri, and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with a BS in Historic Preservation. I had an interesting career in travel and...
