Cape Girardeau, Missouri citizens honors veterans and those soldiers who gave their lives for freedom two or three time annually. The American Legion Park becomes a alive with memories of those soldiers gone but not forgotten. This photograph highlights the walk of the Honor Guard that parades in the VFW Honor Walk from midnight to 11:59 pm every Memorial Day. The town is draped in old glory from one end of town to the other. Cape is home of Southeast Missouri State University and the county was one of the five original counties in the Louisiana Purchase. It is a town of citizens who appreciate their history.
As a painter, my goal is to inspire, not just reproduce a subject on a canvas. I like my colors bold with subjects drawn in large, generous forms. I want my work to touch the inner impulse and passion of my viewers. To me, producing art is liberating. Whether I work directly from a perceived subject, plain air, or abstractly, I am most concerned about the work's overall composition and formal aspects. My colors tend to be bright and bold. Bright colors make me happy, and I aspire to convey that feeling to my viewers and customers. I am a native of Sikeston, Missouri, and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with a BS in Historic Preservation.
