Description
My husband and I took some friends from Missouri over to Avery Island, Louisiana a few years ago. The island is famous for growing, manufacturing and selling Tabasco Sauce. In the 1800's they also mined salt on the island. Most people park their cars in a visitors parking lot and walk the trails throughout the island. What a surprise to see a large Shrine at an opening. As we approached the shrine we could see a golden Budda inside the glass enclosed building. I was a photographer back then and took many pictures, from various angles. Little did I know I would begin painting at age 65. I remembered this scene and last year I pulled out the pictures, studied them, and this is the result. The Spanish moss has a gold and copper hue to it so I exaggerated that unusual difference in the moss.
