Artist's Description
Much of what I paint is on the feminine side. While in an Artist Studio environment, I observed a man painting this still life. I asked if I could photograph it and the man granted me permission. It was energizing to paint something of such a departure for me. There are a "pair" of moccasins but you only see the top of the second one. I used impasto with my paint to give the large gourd texture to the leather. I like the two old bottles as added interest. The background is an Indian Blanket, used as a drop cloth.

As a painter, my goal is to inspire, not just reproduce a subject on a canvas. I like my colors bold with subjects drawn in large, generous forms. I want my work to touch the inner impulse and passion of my viewers. To me, producing art is liberating. Whether I work directly from a perceived subject, plain air, or abstractly, I am most concerned about the work's overall composition and formal aspects. My colors tend to be bright and bold. Bright colors make me happy, and I aspire to convey that feeling to my viewers and customers.
