This piece is a large painting. It was a fun still life to paint. I made a leading line with the large blue vase and two bowls. The small rustic stool was used to elevate a bowl holding a golden leafed branch. The small blue bowl takes the eye up to the burnt sienna colored cylindrical vase, then back down to the lemon on the red table cloth for a large triangle. The values of green on the back wall show you from where the light is coming. This painting would look beautiful in a dining room and could also go in any formal setting. I hope you enjoy the painting, and if you like gold, I know you would enjoy this painting.
As a painter, my goal is to inspire, not just reproduce a subject on a canvas. I like my colors bold with subjects drawn in large, generous forms. I want my work to touch the inner impulse and passion of my viewers. To me, producing art is liberating. Whether I work directly from a perceived subject, plain air, or abstractly, I am most concerned about the work's overall composition and formal aspects. My colors tend to be bright and bold. Bright colors make me happy, and I aspire to convey that feeling to my viewers and customers. I am a native of Sikeston, Missouri, and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with a BS in Historic Preservation.
