These flowers were cut and brought in early one morning. I retrieved the vase my daughter gave me in a Mother's Day Bouquet and used it to put the flowers in. There was my still life ready to paint. I worked much of the day and finished the next day. I like the simplicity of this composition.

As a painter, my goal is to inspire, not just reproduce a subject on a canvas. I like my colors bold with subjects drawn in large, generous forms. I want my work to touch the inner impulse and passion of my viewers. To me, producing art is liberating. Whether I work directly from a perceived subject, plain air, or abstractly, I am most concerned about the work's overall composition and formal aspects. My colors tend to be bright and bold. Bright colors make me happy, and I aspire to convey that feeling to my viewers and customers.
