I love to paint roosters and am amazed at how many varieties of roosters there are to enjoy. I painted this in a class room setting and three of us painted this rooster with dramatically different results. The picture makes me feel good to look at it and, to me, has certain sense of serenity.
As a painter, my goal is to inspire, not just reproduce a subject on a canvas. I like my colors bold with subjects drawn in large, generous forms. I want my work to touch the inner impulse and passion of my viewers. To me, producing art is liberating. Whether I work directly from a perceived subject, plain air, or abstractly, I am most concerned about the work's overall composition and formal aspects. My colors tend to be bright and bold. Bright colors make me happy, and I aspire to convey that feeling to my viewers and customers. I am a native of Sikeston, Missouri, and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with a BS in Historic Preservation. This one sold the first place I showed it and I failed to take a perfect picture. I have learned from that mistake. I just noticed more orange :)
